Wax Inclusion Projects (1990 - Ongoing)

Project of embeded objects In wax: clothing, newspaper, curtains & bedding

This body of work started in the early 1990s, when Häussler began experimenting with melting wax by placing electrical heaters in large fish tanks. The practice of inclusions in wax developed as her interest in vulnerable (and intimate) materials such as newspaper clippings, clothing, bedding and curtains began to merge with other interests in the concepts of memories, conservation and archiving.

These waxworks are one of her ongoing artistic modalities.

A video interview with Iris Häussler in which she talks about the work process of this series.
