Some objects from Hasard’s legacy where recently closely examined, amongst them were two male tailors dummies. We had wondered about their hand-crafted nature and the texts from French novelist Victor Hugo scrawled on them. X-rays were taken and show sharp objects like scalpels, scissors and knives had been embedded inside them. Investigation showed that these dummies had been created by taking plaster life casts of male torsos, filled with newspaper and wool, a coat-hanger and a mounting-rod. Assuming these dummies were handcrafted by Florence herself, her motives aren’t known to us, but we believe Florence might have created these objects in response to her traumatic experience as a nurse in the military hospital # 73.
